5 small changes that save a lot of energy

As a property management company, we know that maintaining a property in Israel is an expensive business. Property owners sometimes tend to save on the big things first, but even the smallest changes can save big in the long run.

In the spirit of the article, we'll save on words and get straight to the point: 5 ways to save energy.

  1. Replacing bulbs: LED bulbs are energy-saving bulbs that reduce electricity consumption. LED bulbs cost a little more, but the savings are greater, because they are durable, last longer and use less electricity. LED bulbs can last 25 times longer than regular bulbs. In addition, LED bulbs offer a wide range of colors and brightness levels to suit any atmosphere.
  2. Smart timers: Using timers, such as a Shabbat timer, that let you schedule when an electrical device operates is an excellent way to save energy. The timers run on electrical current and let anyone plan when a device will operate, at what hours and sometimes on which days. This prevents unnecessary use of electricity.
  3. Irrigation system: A computerized irrigation system works much like a Shabbat timer. You can set it to work however you like, enter the data and forget about it. With computerized irrigation systems, you can limit watering time as much as you want and increase or decrease the interval between waterings.
  4. Lighting controller: In buildings, it is best to use lighting controllers, which enable significant energy savings. A lighting controller lets you control lighting intensity and switch lights on and off remotely. In addition, the controller detects the intensity of natural light and adjusts the indoor lighting accordingly. When there is natural light outside, the controller dims the lighting and saves a great deal of energy.
  5. Water controller: Another important way to save energy is to use a water controller. In Israel, where water conservation is encouraged, it is important and advisable to install this device. The controller learns the property's consumption, detects leaks or bursts and, if necessary, shuts off the water valve.

In summary, there are many more ways for everyone to save energy at home. We chose to gather the five easiest and most cost-effective ways, all of which work on a "set and forget" basis. The timers, controllers and bulbs are usually installed by a residents' committee management company, helping you save energy at home.
